I started shooting family session about a year after I started weddings, and honestly, I have loved every minute of it! Not only do I get to work with some of the best families and most hilarious kiddos, but I get to see our couples and families as they start and grow their families over the years! It really is such a treat to be able to watch these tiny babes grow into super fun kids full of spunk and personality! So with that all said, I think it is only fitting to wrap-up the 2020 year that was filled with so many wonderful family sessions!Continue reading “2020 Favourites: Families + Newborns”
I am sure I have said it before but, it ends up being 50/50 as to whether or not the birthday boys and girls who come into the studio to celebrate actually smash in their cakes. In fact, it’s so hit and miss that I sometimes think it’s a little odd to call it’s cake smash as it’s just as likely to be a cake ‘meh’. The original plan was for Sweet Little Ella to have a cake smash outside in the Arboretum followed by a big family birthday party at home a couple weeks later. And although she did have a cake smash in the Arboretum, thanks to Covid, her birthday party was a quiet affair at home with Mom and Dad. But it was all still great fun, and hey, this way she got to smash multiple cakes and donut towers … well, she got to touch them all slightly and then get really upset about it – same thing right?!Continue reading “Ottawa Arboretum First Birthday Portraits + Cake Smash: Ella”
A willow tree, run through the sprinkler, splash in the pool, and lots of adorable hugs — this family session pretty much had it all, including three of the kindest people ever. I absolutely adore this little family and any day I get to hang out with them is always a great one!!
I am always a little extra nervous when siblings are involved in sessions, because sometimes they can be a little shy or apprehensive about the whole thing, and the birthday boy can sometimes feed off of that for their solo portion of the photos. But Tobias’ big sisters, Genevieve and Bianca, were anything but shy! In fact, the first words out of their mouths as I opened the front door were, “It’s picture day!”, and it was said with such delight and excitement that I instantly knew I was in for a tremendous shoot!
